The 12U's finished the NIHL seeding round in 2nd place with a 5-1-2 record. The girls scored 37 goals and held our opponents to just 13 goals in 8 games!!! In official terms, that means the team ended up with the least amount of goals allowed with a 1.63 goals against average. All three lines provided balanced scoring with 4.63 goals scored by each line during the seeding round. We were thrilled to have Randi Fabsits back in the line up for the seeding round. Randi, Madeline Tank, Kelly Micholson, Jilly Kosteck and Kelly Murray (our "steel" curtain!) played extremely well throughout the seeding round.
On October 8th the 12U’s went to Madison, WI for a double header against the Madison Capitols. Although these games were practice, the girls were very sharp. In the first game, Katelyn Hodgman had 2 goals, Giovanna Senese had 2 goals and 2 assists and Sam Ratty had 2 goals and 2 assists. Cara Piazza had 2 assists, Samantha Edelson had an assist and Eileen Harris had an assist. The final score was 6-0 and the girls played great, especially the defense! We went to the Great Steak and Lube for a fun dinner and then returned to meet the Caps again. That evening TI won by a score of 5-2, with the goalies combining for 26 saves!! Stephanie Lemke and Julie Gunnerson have been absolutely unstoppable in the net and have shared the ice for each and every game to date. In the second game, Hodgman shot in one with an assist by Harris; Katy Ratty, Edelson and Piazza each had unassisted goals and Halley Baker had one goal, with help from Piazza. Again, our defense was superb.
After the game, Coach Steve, Coach Glenn and Coach Vic announced our captains. Tank will wear one "C" and Hodgman the other; Carolyn Fuwa and Senese will wear our "A"'s. We are proud to have them as our captains.
From Madison, the TI clan drove to Rockford to play a NIHL game against the RoadRunners. The RoadRunners are a boy's team that plays at the Pee Wee Silver level. We got to work in Rockford and played our best game to date, beating the RoadRunners 4-1.
The 12U’s will remain at the Pee Wee silver level for NIHL play, but moved into Tier 1. The girls have been working very hard and we know that it will pay off. We are looking forward to going to the Polar Bear Tournament in December and we will also be traveling to Sarnia, Canada over President's Weekend in February. Happy Thanksgiving to all from the 12U's!
