19U's Hit the Ice 06-07 Season

The TI U19 girls hit the ice on September 1, and it seemed
like an eternity until they played their first game nearly
three weeks later. In the opening match of the Stevens Point
tournament, TI faced the Mid-Canada Wildcats. Any thought
that TI would take time to get their game together was
dispelled early and often in a 10-0 victory. The girls then
had a quick and quiet dinner while preparing for their
second opponent Friday night, Team Alaska. After serving up
an 8-1 victory, you could tell that the girls were really
focused.

Saturday's action began with a game against Team Wisconsin.
TI controlled the puck most of the game, and the 4-1 score
was mostly attributable to the Team Wisconsin goaltender.
The final round robin game was against Walser Red. TI lit
the lamp twice in the first three minutes, and the party was
just getting rolling. The final score of 8-2 completed a
four-game sweep of their division, and set up a championship
game against Walser White, the two-time defending champion
of this tournament.

For the first time in the young season, TI found themselves
in a game that was more than competitive. Walser scored
first, but TI responded with three straight goals to take
command. A late Walser goal made for an exciting finish, but
their six on five attack was thwarted and TI took home the
trophy with a 3-2 victory.

The following weekend brought two games against Robert
Morris College. RMC plays Division 1 club, and is coming off
two straight ACHA championship game appearances. The college
girls had just started skating the previous week, and their
rustiness was apparent as TI used speed and passing to
secure a 4-0 victory. In the rematch the next morning, RMC
was faster and more physical, despite the final score of 7-1
in TI's favor.

TI will begin Midwest Elite play next week.
