14U#2 Focus on Skills
The 14U#2 team had a relatively light game schedule for December, finishing
off the 2004 year with a 5-5-1 record bringing their game summary for the
season to a very respectable 12-13-2. The light game schedule for December
didn't mean the girls were idle. Coach Durante secured additional practice
ice with emphasis on skating skills and off-ice training. The ongoing theme
and goal for the 14's is to prepare for the end of season tournament. Each
girl has been given individual goals to increase strength, speed and stamina. New
skating harnesses were distributed to each girl to assist in enhancing their skating stride.
Each girl has exhibited outstanding commitment, on and off the ice, throughout the season.
The team is preparing to defend the 14U Championship this January in Trenton, Michigan
at the Golden Blades Tournament. The team will also venture into Canada as
they participate in the London Ontario Devilettes Hockey Tournament. The
team has made great strides throughout the year. Sydney Lieb was named
captain and Jessica Hoelzer and Samantha Patrone were named assistants.
