14U#2's Show Determination at Season Start
The 14U#2 Team has taken to the ice under head coach Margaret Dumiak
and assistant coach Kathy Dumiak with additional coaching assistance from
parent Tom Reibel. The team faces a challenging task in battling opponents
at the very competitive NIHL Bantam Bronze Division as well as participating
in the Midwest Elite League as an exhibition team.
The team completed the NIHL round with a record of 1-7 and 2-9 overall.
However, as the girls begin working together and develop as a cohesive unit,
it becomes apparent that the second half of the season will have the win
column growing at a steady pace. Highlights for the initial session include a strong win against highly rated Colorado Select Girls. The
14U#2's also played very well against a strong Michigan Ice Dogs and CYA team in
MWEHL exhibition play. The TI 14U#2 team dominated both games but fell
short in the final tally.
The team is anchored by returning veteran players Jackie Camardo, Paige
Hoppie, Nicole Camardo, Kara Salisbury and Hayley Williams. Other returning
T.I. players, Beth Hitchcock, Tanya Weiner, and Angela Sundt are expected to
pick up the tempo as they advance to a higher level of competitive play.
In addition to the veteran players, Jessica Patrone, Kim
Kowalczyk, Jessie Reibel, Sydney Lieb, Kaitlyn Key, Ellie Howser and Jessica Hoelzer
are welcome additions to the TI organization.
The team boasts surprising strength and size in both the offensive and
defensive zones. Centers Hayley Williams and Kim Kowalczyk have outstanding
speed to move the puck accented by pinpoint passing from wings, Jessica
Hoelzer and Ellie Howser. The addition of Jessica Patrone's potent shooting
and gritty corner work by Jackie Camardo and Jessie Reibel will definitely
put more pucks in the net during the second portion of the season. Tanya
Weiner, Jessica Hoelzer, Sydney Lieb and Ellie Howser have the quickness and
agility to generate the quick break outs that should have opponents back on
their heels as the 14U's move the puck through the neutral zone. A strong
and aggressive defensive line up of Paige Hoppie, Nicole Camardo, Kara
Salisbury and Kaitlyn Key will give Angela Sundt and Beth Hitchcock added
protection from any attackers entering the TI zone. Kim Kowalczyk registered the first Hat-Trick of the season and multiple goal games by
Jessica Patrone and Hayley Williams will generate the spark needed to ignite
the potential offensive threat of this emerging team.
The 14U#2's will travel to Connecticut to compete in the Polar Bear
tournament in December and the Florida Jr. Panther Cup in February. Several
games against local girl's teams are scheduled and the 14U's are eager to
flex their muscle and skill against their local rivals. An outstanding and
thrilling season is expected!
