10U Win Crystal Lake Christmas Tournament!
While the rest of the organization traveled to the East coast to spend
Christmas in Connecticut, the 10U's spent the holidays at home. A few days
after ripping open gifts, the TI girls ripped past their opponents with
relative ease.
In their first contest, the girls tamed the Wisconsin Wild by scoring 8
goals while Julie Gunnerson allowed none to cross her goal line.
Later that afternoon, TI faced Peoria and literally skated circles around
the opposing team. To make things interesting, the girls flip-flopped positions with offensive players playing
defense and vice versa, and still managed to blindside Peoria with a similar score of 8-1.
Special mention of Kami Weiner. She almost broke her Grandfather's bank when
in the second game she scored two goals and had several opportunities for a
hat trick. Apparently, Kami's Grandfather told Kami he would give her $ for
every goal she scored. Unbeknownst to him, Kami is a secret weapon. Grandpa
sweated out the rest of the game and vowed that he will keep any monetary
awards to a minimum after Kami's scoring display!
TI returned the next morning to face the Crystal Lake Lady Leafs for their
last game of round robin play. Again, TI added another W in the win column
with a 6 to 3 victory.
The two teams met again in the championship game where TI mulched the Lady
Leafs 7-2.
